The Priesthood Power of Women (Barbara Morgan Gardner) (52 min)
Some Latter-day Saints believe that the oath and covenant of the priesthood only applies to men. But in this episode, Professor Barbara Morgan Gardner uses Doctrine and Covenants 84 and the words of prophets and apostles to share an important truth: priesthood power and promises are available to all who receive the blessings of the temple. She also speaks on what the oath and covenant of D&C 84 means to her as a wife, a mother, and a daughter of God.
Pres. Nelson’s Call to Women About Priesthood Power Is More Urgent Than Ever, Dr. Barbara Gardner (1 hr 36 min)
Let’s be real: there’s a lot of confusion when it comes to women and priesthood power. And that confusion? It’s holding way too many women back from fully stepping into their divine potential. In this episode, Dr. Barbara Morgan Gardner, BYU Religion Professor, is here to cut through the misconceptions and get to the heart of what priesthood power really means for women—and how it can completely change the way you see your role in God’s plan. We’re not shying away from the big questions:
What does priesthood power actually mean for you as a woman?
How can understanding it help you step up in your home, community, and the kingdom of God?
And what’s stopping us from embracing this power fully?
The Priesthood for Men and Women (50 min)
The Prophet Joseph often refers to God’s all-encompassing power as the priesthood. This overarching definition acts like an umbrella that covers all of God’s works—from the Creation to the Gifts of the Spirit. In Doctrine and Covenants sections 84 and 107, we especially see the priesthood used in the work of organizing the church and male ordinations. Yet, in D&C 84, we also see both the expansive definition of the priesthood power and the specific definition of priesthood keys and offices used. In the Book of Mormon alone, we find over 464 attributes and references to priesthood power; the Doctrine and Covenants has over 833 similar references. Join Dr. Lynne Hilton Wilson and guest Janiece Johnson as they discuss the Oath and the Covenant of the Priesthood and how it is so much more than we realize as members of the Church.
Re-envisioning the Priesthood in Light of the Temple (14 min)
There are a lot of misunderstandings about the nature and function of priesthood in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS, Mormon). I think the temple is the most ennobling and empowering institution on earth for both men and women, and it’s because of its radical conception of priesthood. In this video I’ll be presenting a new paradigm for conceptualizing priesthood for men and women. I’ll also be discussing men’s and women’s distinct but divine roles within this priesthood framework.
Women and the Priesthood (35 min)
This video discusses the evolution in our understanding of priesthood power and authority to include women’s ability to access it as they serve in their families, the church, and the temple. It also clarifies early church practices of women being “ordained” in Relief Society and women giving “healing blessings of faith,” neither of which resulted, ever, in any woman having conferred on them the Aaronic or Melchizedek Priesthood or ordained to any priesthood office.
Women & the priesthood: 4 Priesthood Powers given to LDS Women (17 min)
Women & Priesthood - is a channel for faithful LDS men, women, and young women to follow Prophet, Russell M. Nelson’s plea to us to " Prayerfully Study all [you] can about priesthood power." This week we discuss the restoration of the Melchizedek Priesthood in Harmony Penn and how this empowers women in the LDS community with 4 specific blessings & in some cases priesthood authority.
After explainging that the Relief Society is one of the oldest and largest women's organizations in the world, he said: "People wonder what we do for our women. I will tell you what we do; we get out of their way and look with wonder at what they are accomplishing.”
