Evolution, Creation and the Plan of Salvation
“There is no conflict between science and religion. Conflict only arises from an incomplete knowledge of either science or religion, or both,” Elder Russell M. Nelson of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles said during the dedication of the new Life Sciences Building at Brigham Young University.
“This university is committed to search for truth, and teach the truth,” said Elder Nelson. “All truth is part of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Whether truth comes from a scientific laboratory or by revelation from the Lord, it is compatible.”

The Official Essay by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints on Evolution:
https://www.churchofjesuschrist.org/study/history/topics/organic-evolution?lang=eng
The Church embraces the idea that God’s truths are continually being revealed to his children on Earth. There is no conflict between LDS theology and the theories of evolution as currently understood by science. This subject is still being explored and many things are being discovered. However God created his children and all things in the Universe, it is a miracle and we recognize His hand in all things even if how it occurred may not be understood perfectly yet.

Purpose: What Evolution and Human Nature Imply about the Meaning of Our Existence
Author: Samuel T. Wilkinson
Purchase: https://www.amazon.com/Purpose-Evolution-Nature-Meaning-Existence/dp/1639365176
Summary: Generations have been taught that evolution implies there is no overarching purpose to our existence, that life has no fundamental meaning. We are merely the accumulation of tens of thousands of intricate molecular accidents. Some scientists take this logic one step further, suggesting that evolution is intrinsically atheistic and goes against the concept of God. But is this true? By integrating emerging principles from a variety of scientific disciplines—ranging from evolutionary biology to psychology—Yale Professor Samuel Wilkinson provides a framework of evolution that implies not only that there is an overarching purpose to our existence, but what this purpose is.
